To remain Quebec’s leader in the recycling field, Gaudreau Environment reorganized its sorting activities and now operates two recycling plants in Victoriaville. These changes allow the company to sort more materials than before and to adapt itself to the market’s specific needs.
The first recycling plant, built in 1995, has always been associated with efficiency and productivity. Its 30,000 foot square surface gets more than 50,000 tons of recyclable materials from various regions of Quebec, Ontario, and the United States every year. It is the first mechanized recycling plant in Quebec, and it has a surprising capacity of treatment of the various papers and cardboards, as well as glass, metal and plastic containers.
CONTAINERS RECYCLING PLANT
The second recycling plant, which is highly mechanized, was built in 2008 to sort glass, metal and plastic containers. Equipments that are at the cutting edge of technology have been added to it, including an automatic plastics sorting machine that works with an optical scanner, a mechanical separator, a magnetic separator, and a blower.
Sorting’s subcontracting
Gaudreau offers subcontract services for the recyclable materials sorting from municipal and private recycling plants of Canada and the United States. The customers can send the mixed containers (glass, metal, plastic) in bales to maximize transportation. Because of its excellent performance, the containers recycling plant allows us to offer very competitive rates.
RETURNABLE CONTAINER PROCESSING
The recycling plant is accredited by Recyc-Québec to receive the returnable containers coming from all regions within the Province of Quebec and destined for recycling. Upon arrival, they are pressed (if made of plastic or aluminum), or crushed and purified (if made of glass). Materials are then forwarded to various recycling companies to be transformed into new consumer goods.
PLASTIC RECYCLING
Among the materials taken at the recycling plant, there are plastic containers numbered from 1 to 7, bags, and plastic films. Unlike other materials that pass at the recycling center, plastic is processed on the spot at the PLASTIC DIVISION, and then sold to recyclers.
