In 1995, Gaudreau was one of the first Quebec-based companies to simultaneously implant an Alternate Collection System for dwellings (including apartment buildings), industries, businesses and institutions. Since then, every two weeks, recyclable materials and waste are collected on an alternate basis, and this, 12 months a year.
In order to maximize the environmental impact of such a system, Gaudreau teamed it up with 3-way Collection, which consists in collection waste as well as recyclable and compostable materials, with the latter being carried out every week from mid-April to mid-November.
Everywhere it has been implanted, three different-coloured carts are used by the residential sector; each colour corresponding to specific collection (waste, recyclable and compostable materials). Cart lifting is carried out using a side-loading truck equipped with an automated arm and camera.
